Align with your element’s auspicious energy — discover your lucky colors, prosperity numbers, favorable directions, and best times of day
In Chinese metaphysics, your Day Master element doesn’t just describe your personality — it also reveals which colors, numbers, directions, and times of day carry the most auspicious energy for you. Wearing your lucky color, sleeping in your favorable direction, or closing deals during your peak time can subtly shift outcomes in your favor.
How BaZi Lucky Energy Works
The Five Elements follow a natural cycle of generation (相生) and control (相克). Elements that generate your element enhance your energy. Elements that your element generates bring you satisfaction and output. And elements that control your element should be used with caution.
Your “lucky” elements are those that support or are supported by your Day Master. Your “unlucky” elements are those that over-control or reverse-control your Day Master.

How to Use Your Lucky Directions
In BaZi and Feng Shui, directions correspond to elements. Your favorable direction is where your element is strongest:
- East (90°–135°): Wood energy — best for Wood types
- South (157°–202°): Fire energy — best for Fire and Earth types
- West (247°–292°): Metal energy — best for Metal types
- North (337°–22°): Water energy — best for Water types
Practical Applications
- Sleep direction: Point your head toward your favorable direction when sleeping
- Desk placement: Face your lucky direction when working
- Door placement: Your main door facing your lucky direction strengthens career luck
- Property selection: Choose a home or office with your favorable direction as the facing direction
Symbolic Numbers in BaZi
This local article and the Vietnamese report use one He Tu convention consistently. Other systems, including Luo Shu and the original reports, may use different associations; they should be identified separately. These numbers are cultural symbols, not measured probabilities or guarantees of good fortune.
| Element | He Tu pair |
|---|---|
| Wood | 3, 8 |
| Fire | 2, 7 |
| Earth | 5, 10 |
| Metal | 4, 9 |
| Water | 1, 6 |
Other cultural associations of the number 9 do not add it to every pair. In the standard generating cycle, Metal generates Water; Fire does not generate Water.
How to Use Lucky Numbers
- Choose phone numbers, license plates, and bank PINs containing your lucky numbers
- Set important meetings, contracts, and events for dates that total your lucky numbers
- When negotiating, focus on realistic costs, quantities, and clear terms; symbolic numbers do not improve an agreement by themselves
Element Conflicts: What to Avoid
Each element has natural conflicts. Understanding what to avoid is as important as knowing what to embrace:
- Wood: Avoid too much Metal (scissors cutting trees) — avoid white/silver decor in your personal spaces
- Fire: Avoid too much Water (water extinguishes fire) — avoid black/blue dominant rooms for important meetings
- Earth: Avoid too much Wood (wood pierces earth) — avoid large green plants in the southwest area of your home
- Metal: Avoid too much Fire (fire melts metal) — avoid dominant red/orange lighting in your office
- Water: Avoid too much Earth (earth blocks water) — avoid excessive brown/yellow in the north area of your home
